Metro Cross / 1985 / Namco / Namco Pacland Hardware

Rumble Fish 2 / 2005 / Sega + Dimps / Sammy Atomiswave Hardware

i haven’t had much time with this game, but i was really drawn in by it when i did get a chance to play it. i love that the characters are animated in pieces, and with really great tweens, too. good use of some powerful arcade hardware!

Demon Front / 2000 / IGS / IGS PGM Hardware

badass Metal Slug clone featuring plenty of traced animations but plenty of new personality and a crazy fun familiar system to push it that extra mile. plays a bit tighter than Metal Slug as well in my opinion. essential business! unfortunately still unemulated and not ported to any consoles - arcade collectors take note!

In The Hunt / 1993 / Irem / Irem M92 Hardware

also released on the Saturn and PlayStation (the PlayStation port is the better of the two). an absolutely killer undersung shooter with great visuals and atmosphere. it’s really cheap and you should own it! i regret really not giving this one a serious chance until tonight, because it totally blew me away.

Raiden II / 1993 / Seibu Keihatsu / Custom V30(?) Hardware

the flyer doesn’t lie! truly one of the greatest of all time. also released as part of the Raiden Project on the PlayStation.
